Donations and Gift Cards

The Council of Wisdom is an incorporated non-profit organization and is currently in the process of seeking an official declaration of 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status from the United States Internal Revenue Service. We don't expect any problems in gaining this status.

This page will soon contain information about making donations by check as well as links to donate by credit/debit card and PayPal in several major currencies.

There will be five options for giving to the Council of Wisdom:

• Donate Annual Membership Fee — If you wish to be a Councilor (i.e. a full voting member of the Council of Wisdom), you need to donate US$100 (or equivalent) to the organization each year. Half of this membership fee goes into our general fund, and the other $50 goes into your personal account at the Council of Wisdom.

• Donate to General Fund — Your donation will be used for staff salaries, website and administrative expenses. At this time, we are especially looking for major benefactors to help provide for our startup costs, such as paying our Executive Director and website developer and establishing an office. If you are a person of means and you are inspired to support the Council of Wisdom with major financial contributions, please contact us to express your interest, and we can discuss with you our specific financial needs and answer any questions you may have.

• Fund Personal Account — Your donation will go into your personal account at the Council of Wisdom, from which you may earmark funds at any time to any approved recipients of appropriations and endorsements by the Council (these will be listed on our website). Seven percent of the funds that you put in your personal account will be deducted to pay for credit card transaction fees and staff expenses related to researching/vetting potential recipients of your donations, to ensure that only the highest quality people and organizations are approved and endorsed by the Council.

• Order Council of Wisdom Gift Card — You may order gift cards to give to people you know, which they can use as a temporary personal account at the Council of Wisdom containing the amount of money you put on the card.

• Endow the Council of Wisdom — You may make an endowment to the Council of Wisdom in your will.
